Aci Bonaccorsi - Friday, August 2nd at 9.30pm
In Aci Bonaccorso, on the eve of the Festival, the traditional "Cantata" historical re-edition. Traditional POPULAR CANTATA of hymns to Santo Stefano, performed by the singers of the Battiati and Piazza districts. At 9.30pm the traditional National Fireworks Festival, the "evening of fireworks" par excellence, dedicated to the "clash" of the parties, a sort of fireworks Palio, between the Battiati and Piazza districts. An unmissable opportunity to attend a traditional Sicilian festival in style! Every year four pyrotechnic masters of national fame take part in the event, designated by a municipal council responsible for this purpose.
The first part of the competition, which takes place on the afternoon of August 2nd, consists of the firing of two daytime bombs; in the late evening of the same day the Festival includes the throwing of three bombs in the evening and a free finale for each competitor. Each bomb will be subject to a vote by a seven-member jury. All the bombs will be given a score from 1 to 5, while each ending will be given a score from 7 to 35; bombs that explode on the ground and endings that suffer more than two breakages will be a priori excluded from the competition. The jury will award a prize which consists of an artistic trophy to be awarded to the best show overall. Further prizes will also be awarded, including cash prizes.
