From Sunday 2 June the exhibition-event "Caravaggio: the truth of light" will be open to the public in the "Santa Chiara" art gallery, the new museum center of the Municipality
The visits are scheduled, until 6 October 2024, every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10.00 to 20.00, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10.00 to 21.00.
The municipal administration launches a new artistic and cultural season with an architectural recovery project, that of the former Santa Chiara monastery (in via Castello Ursino 10), associated with a heritage of thirty-five works, five of which are autograph, which will find the ideal location in the valuable spaces recovered for public use thanks to the redevelopment intervention carried out with community funds in the premises of the former registry office.
"Caravaggio: the truth of light", with a scientific project curated by Pierluigi Carofano, aims to bring a contribution of knowledge to a fundamental period of European art, from the end of the sixteenth century to the first half of the seventeenth century, intertwining with what is commonly defined as the Baroque age. The exhibition will allow a journey into the artistic world, full of lights and shadows, of Caravaggio who, in his short but tormented life, also spent an intense period in Sicily.
