Il Volo is an internationally renowned Italian musical group formed in Rome in 2009.
The trio consists of two tenors and a baritone: Piero Barone (born in Naro, June 24, 1993), Ignazio Boschetto (born in Bologna, October 4, 1994), and Gianluca Ginoble (born in Roseto degli Abruzzi, February 11, 1995).
They were the first Italian artists to sign a direct contract with a major US label, Geffen.
The group's repertoire consists primarily of songs from the Italian and international classical tradition, arranged in modern styles, and pop songs revisited with a classical twist.
They have also recorded pieces in Spanish, English, French, German, and Latin. The group won the 2015 Sanremo Music Festival with "Grande Amore," which they used to represent Italy at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest, finishing in third place. As of 2022, they have sold over 22 million records worldwide.
